Don’t fret if you’re having difficulty finding Melrose Park, IL museums. While there isn’t much to see in Melrose Park itself, you can still find some museums around the area. Within the village, be sure to see the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. This is a one of a kind National Italian Parish for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Visitors can look forward to a procession as well a traditional Italian band playing.

Moving outward, residents can journey outside of Melrose Park to Illinois museums nearby. For instance, there is the Donald E. Stephens Museum of Hummels, which is a museum collecting Hummel figurines. In fact, with over 1,000 rarities it is the largest single site of Hummel figurines anywhere on earth!

The Irish American Heritage Center offers an art gallery, a museum and several events a year. This museum, which was opened in 1991, includes several rare collections as well as grand old artifacts. It is found at 4626 North Knox Avenue in Chicago, IL. The Cernan Earth & Space Center offers a variety of programs and educational facilities. It is located at Triton College just outside of the village. This museum focuses on astronomy, space exploration, and Earth science. It has a one hundred-seat Dome Theater that features planetarium shows, wraparound films, children's shows and laser light shows.

Wonder Works is a children's museum found in Oak Park, Illinois. The museum attracts thousands of visitors a year and features special-events, exhibitions and fun for children. Lastly, there’s the Ernest Hemingway Museum found on North Oak Park Avenue. This museum is dedicated to one of the 20th century’s greatest writers, specifically his stay in Oak Park, IL. The museum hosts book signings, reading events and group discussion.
